5000+, the Integrated Design Strategy for Inner Adelaide, a project about city redesign and renewal for inner Adelaide was a partnership involving the South Australian Government, the Australian Government, and City of Adelaide along with the seven adjoining metropolitan Councils (City of Charles Sturt; City of Prospect; Corporation of the Town of Walkerville; City of Norwood; Payneham & St Peters; City of Burnside; City of Unley; and City of West Torrens).
5000+ engaged thousands of people through its forums, community events, online and social media, where it collected and enabled ideas from design professionals, businesses, not-for-profit organisations, academia and government. During the final year the project team undertook research through engagement and design testing.
The ‘Collaborative City’ exhibition in late 2012 showcased findings and sought feedback on a Place Shaping Framework. Among the main deliverables from 5000+ were the Vision and Guiding Principles for inner Adelaide, Context and Issues Report and Engagement and Feedback Report. Between 2011 and June 2012 the Capital City Committee was the steering group for the project. We also supported the five 5000+ Forums: Vibrant City, Moving City, Living City, Green City and Leading City.
